The file size was too big… Wisconsin is the ONLY state in which your first drunk driving offence is a civil infraction–NOT a crime. Nearly ten percent [give or take] of Wisconsin’s population holds AT LEAST one DUI or OWI. Many times, when there is a drunk driving accident, resulting in fatality or not, the person at fault already has one or several DUIs or OWIs. These people have stolen OVER 1600 lives in Wisconsin between January 1, 2003 and Dcember 31, 2007. I don’t know what people are trying to prove by drinking and driving. It’s selfish. I’m sick of sitting in a cold car after bar-close for an hour, waiting for the drunken idiots to get off the streets. I’m sick of worrying about friends and family when they’re out late. Most of all, I’m sick of the fact that our government doesn’t seem to care. People that have driven buzzed or drunk, even if only once: Which of your friends or family do YOU have to KILL or seriously injure in an accident before you realize what a selfish fool you are? Is it THAT hard to get a ride? Is it really worth it not to? Do you feel like you’re inconveniencing someone, by asking for one? Does that really outweigh inconveniencing someone by paralyzing them for life–or worse?
